Dr. Janice Perlman, our president and founder, will give the keynote on UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.  She will draw upon her 50-year longitudinal study of informal settlements (Favelas) in Rio as well as 30 years of experience sharing “approaches that work” through the Mega-Cities Project.  She has been an active contributor to HABITAT I (1976, Vancouver); HABITAT II (1996, Istanbul) and HABITAT III (2016, Quito) and the New Urban Agenda for 2030.

The Brazilian Academy of Sciences was founded in 1916.   Their Magna Conference is the annual induction of the new members and this year’s Academic Coordinator is Prof. Edson Watanabe. This 2019 conference is planned as a debate and reflection on Agenda 2030 and anticipated impacts for the future of Brazil and the planet.

The Conference is free and will be live streamed. Check out more and RSVP here.
